On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Lauren wears an off the shoulder black top and coated skinny pants. As she channels Sandra Bullock's character in "The Blind Side" by welcoming Jamie into her home, one can't help but admire her ensemble. Sure, the Fenmore's Boutique owner would rather channel Catwoman's getup than Leigh Anne Tuohy's pearls and matching sweater sets but either way, both women are giving shelter to a homeless teenager. Now we'll just have to sit back and wait for her to encourage Jamie to try out for football and wait while he acquires speed, reflexes, and essentially the senses of a cat. He'll then be tackling his homework, thriving, and they will all become a happy family. Then the Baldwins can finally sit back while universities fight over Jamie and his new-found athletic ability. Touchdown!
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Phyllis wears a black lace top and gold bar earrings. It appears she will miss her daughter's birthday because of a business trip but somehow, pulls a "Jack Reacher" and appears suddenly and unexpectedly. Phyllis, like Reacher, is suspicious and questioning the motives of those around her (namely her sister Avery.) As for playing "good cop, bad cop" looks like Phyllis and Nick both want to reward Summer for her drunk driving accident several months prior by giving her a brand new car. Perhaps Reacher can give her some pointers on how to properly destroy the car. You know, like driving backwards amidst flying bullets for one.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Lily wears a purple ruffle top. Jennifer Lawrence told Marie Claire South Africa that she is addicted to junk food and reality television. What are the chances Lily is obsessed with the same two things? Probably slim to none considering she is working "Like Crazy" during the "Winter's Bone" cold months. Lily's career may be "Catching Fire" but at the end of the day, she still goes home to her "House at the End of the Street" and spends quality time with her lovely husband and her adorable twins. Not exactly a pack of Red Vines and a National Geographic show about "The Beaver" species but a fantastic fixation just the same.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Katherine wears a red silk blouse. With her fainting spell, one would think she was reacting to the latest celebrity gossip. Between Kim and Kanye's baby and Hugh Hefner's wedding to a woman 60 years his junior, Tucker McCall's antics look like child's' play. Katherine may be rattled by Jill and Tucker's recent decision to begin dating again but at least she has two people in her life who will ensure a speedy recovery despite being the cause of her episode.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Sharon wears a long sleeve sweater top with an asymmetric hem. One could argue that 2012 was the year of unusual collaborations: Neiman Marcus and Target, Altuzarra for J.Crew, Rodarte and Starbucks, Adam and Chelsea. As the year comes to a close, however, these combinations that did not exactly live up to the hype or in some cases, made absolutely no sense, can quietly go their separate ways. Whether it be Target slashing prices to move that Neiman-like merchandise or Adam kissing Sharon and subsequently divorcing Chelsea, something's gotta give. Here's to hoping 2013 makes a bit more sense!
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Avery wears a drape dress. There is no doubt fashion and food make a lovely pair. In fact, fashionista.com has pointed out that the duo are having a bit of a love affair right now a la Nick and Avery. Jourdan Dunn has her own cooking show, Karlie Kloss has launched a line of cookies, a Cesar Casier has a cookbook that is flying off the shelves. And of course, one cannot forget the CFDA's cookbook full of designers' best recipes. Now Avery may be keeping her cooking for friends and family only (okay, mainly Nick) but Is it any wonder the color of her dress is listed as "grape?"
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Gloria wears a snakeskin printed jacket. When she decided not to invest in Chloe and Chelsea's fashion venture, one couldn't help but applaud her restraint and smart business sense. Then, Gloria has to go side with Jeffrey and invest in a race horse. (Who knew he secretly was a bronie?) For all purposes, they may as well name the animal Twilight Sparkle because their little pony is going to bring anything but "elements of harmony" to their relationships let alone friendships. Sure, the trio will share in numerous juvenile adventures until their magical money well runs dry but admit it, right about now Gloworm is looking like a "cutie mark."
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Lily wears a black dress and a burgundy blazer. Was Neil's decision to hire Leslie's brother, who undoubtedly has a thing for his happily married daughter, a smart idea? Especially when Tyler's guerrilla marketing campaign with the eye (Gatsby, anyone?) enraged Jack so. Isn't this similar to Instagram's controversial new terms of service? Considering the app's changes caused just about everyone and their mother to panic, one could argue it was not the company's best move. And as for Jabot, it's almost as if Tyler suggested using a consumer's snapshot in their new ad. Whether one is picturing Lily and Leslie's brother together down the road or themselves finding and using a new photo app, one thing is clear: change isn't necessarily always a good thing.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Phyllis wears a green shift dress. She calls Jack out about his addiction to pills in a way that makes Kyle's confrontation with Kim on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills several seasons ago look tame. While Jack hems and haws his way out of trouble and tries to convince Phyllis he has it all under control, she knows better. In fact, anyone with eyes and half a brain can see he's in trouble. Then again, if Jack can't handle Phyllis' confrontational style, he should just be grateful Red didn't pull a Brandi and accuse him in front of everyone of doing crystal meth in the bathroom.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Nikki wears a teal dress. Victor telling her to "let things go" with Sharon is like telling Taylor Swift to forgo buying a mansion in the vicinity of her latest boyfriend's house. Speaking of homes, sure Nikki has every right to be peeved that Sharon burned hers to the ground but can't she just follow Taylor's example ie move on and buy a new one? Simple, easy, done. Almost like every one of the country singer's "swift" relationships, right? Now we just have to wait for the sad ballad on her next album about the flooded basements, broken heater, and terrible termite problems. You've got to admit, this method sounds a whole lot easier than secretly playing detective in hopes to throw your ex-daughter-in-law in prison for good.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Chloe wears a black and white printed sweater. After three months, several news outlets have finally revealed the wedding pictures of Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. If Chloe could keep a secret for that long, her marriage might stand a chance. With Kevin "borrowing" money from the Tag and Grab account, one can't help but hope that his blabbermouth wife will keep her mouth shut. If she tells Chelsea who in turn may or may not tell Adam, then an entire game of telephone will ensue throughout all of Genoa City. If that happens, you just know Chloe will be burying her head inside of Kevin's old chipmunk costume trying to escape the humiliation. (Coincidence that Reynold's doppelganger Jason Lee starred in Alvin and the Chipmunks?) If anything, it will at least be quite interesting to see how Chloe would style a rodent.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Chelsea wears a silk blouse. Anyone else think she's resembling Leann Rimes? These days, Chelsea is a few drinks short of the singer's disastrous "How Do I Live" performance on The X Factor. Speaking of which, it doesn't hurt that the song pretty much sums up the brunette's feelings for her estranged husband. The lyrics ask, "If I had to live without you, what kind of life would that be?" Gloria, Jeffrey, and Anita would helpfully point out she would live a poor one. You know, since Adam "would take away everything real in [her] life." As Rimes croons, "Don't you know that you're everything," one can't help but think that yes, Adam is everything. "Her heart, her world, her soul." Sharon's, that is. Hope there was a prenup between Chelsea and Adam although who knows if this time, Sharon will get around to burning it.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Sharon wears a multi-striped sweater. Her interactions with everyone in the Newman family lately is about as cringe-worthy as the Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta holiday music video "I Think You Might Like It." Sharon's apology, much like the Grease co-stars' reunion, was highly anticipated yet extremely disappointing. And "although here comes that magic/That spell of Christmas Eve/There's nothing you can do" to stop either train wreck from happening. And in both cases, the intended audiences were not very receptive. Perhaps if Sharon had crashed the party with a classic convertible full of gifts things may have gone better for her. Just so long as she didn't break out into an awkward dance routine in the middle of some field for absolutely no reason whatsoever.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Lauren wears a gold and black metallic stripe top. You know that little televised singing competition in which judges have to blindly listen to The Voice before judging a songbook by its cover? Well that methodology would come in handy here as Lauren and Michael seem to be embarrassingly oblivious to Fen and his fiendish ways. While missing opportunities to coach their son on how to be a nice person, the Baldwins don't seem to Cee Lo and behold how badly Fen is tormenting Jamie "Daly" in what can only be considered a "knockout round." Who knows which of the boys will eventually pull a Cassidy Pope and win the whole thing but as Christina Aguilera would belt, "So thanks for making me a fighter."
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Phyllis wears a khaki fitted drape dress. Isn't it about time somebody give her a book deal? As the former editor of Restless Style, Phyllis can certainly write and there is no doubt she has an interesting story or two to tell. While a book from her wouldn't exactly be the badge of courage err honor it is to one of Bravo's Real Housewives like the Countess LuAnn or Princess Carole, she would definitely be the talk of the town. And if Phyllis would be worried about the wrath of the great and powerful Victor Newman, perhaps pulling a Princess Diana and finding her own Andrew Morton to secretly write her biography would do the trick. Hushed interviews make for a book chalk full of juicy tidbits. And let's face it, explosive sales would mean she would finally have enough time to learn how to use Google. Consequently, she would stop accidentally trying to impress future executive assistants.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Katherine wears a blue tweed jacket. She's so dolled up for a simple lunch with Nikki, one could easily believe she's on her way to the Kardashian Christmas card photo shoot. Poor Nikki turns as white as this year's "white party" theme when she recounts recent events to Katherine. While only time will tell if the Newmans will eventually grow to tolerate Sharon the way the Kardashians did with Scott, one can't help but feel as if Nikki would like nothing more than to photo-shop the bipolar blond out of her life for good. It's a shame this whole time Sharon won't stop begging for mercy.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Victoria wears a trim sweater. The fact that she's choosing to work on her marriage to Billy instead of running to Victor is about as surprising as LA Reid's departure from The X Factor. In other words, hardly worth an eyebrow raise. Of course, there were obvious signs in both cases; from the beginning it was clear the Demi/Britney/Khloe demographic would do better with somebody like Bieber as a judge (although nobody's getting their hopes up) while Victor has been trying to break up "Villy" since day one. Now LA can finally grab some downtime in LA while the Abbots are off to rekindle their romance in Jamaica. That being said, Victoria may want to trade in her sweaters for some sunscreen.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Chelsea wears a blue satin blouse. As much as brothers Nick and Adam despise one another, they are growing more similar by the day. While Chelsea's husband is now the one busy vacillating between two women, her brother-in-law has taken it upon himself to disappoint dear old daddy when it comes to the family business. Another thing the two Newman men have in common? Protecting Sharon. Why don't they just go ahead and build a statue of her in the middle of town and get it over with already? That way, Chelsea can go back to her criminal roots and engage in some destruction of property. Or better yet, she can pull a Sharon and either burn it to the ground or steal it altogether. Hey, whatever works.
