On this episode of TheYoungandthe Restless, Christine wears a white jacket. Just to do a quick recap, she's going to New York to tell Danny she's starting something with Paul when she isn't exactly dating either man? Um, okay. About as pointless as the countless news reports about Kate Middleton's new bangs. And according to critics, about as worthless as Pippa Middleton's new party planning book. However, despite Christine's useless actions, you've gotta hand it to her; she's stepping up her fashion game lately. Donating those blazers to Goodwill has done wonders for her. Do you think that's how Nina will feel about giving Paul away to someone "less fortunate"?
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Jill wears a colorblock shirt. As she gets some sisterly advice from Lauren about dating, she acts as if her return to the "dating arena" is the craziest thing. Clearly, Jill has yet to stumble across this year's GOOP Gift Guide by Gweneth Paltrow. Your very own spinning bike? How about the "grow your own garden" planter box? A wooden swing, perhaps? It really doesn't get more ludicrous than that. Jill may very well be crazy for agreeing to go on a date with Tucker but at least she knows what she's getting into. Gweneth, on the other hand, may want to rethink the unpractical gift guide with Rockerfeller price-tags for next year.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Lauren wears a teal dress and a branch necklace. Angus T. Jones telling viewers not to watch Two and a Half Men is like Lauren telling Genoa City residents not to shop at Fenmore's. In other words, why on earth would somebody sabotage his or her own career? Perhaps in Jones' case, it was having a Mr. Charlie Sheen as a mentor for all those years on set. You just know the crazy man was encouraging the youngster to drink up some of that tiger blood and all. As for Lauren, luckily she doesn't have any self-sabotage in her or any "Anger Management" issues to boot. You know what Sheen would say to that? (Get ready to cringe.) Winning.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Gloria wears a leopard blazer. She may be sitting at the new restaurant in town listening to her son gripe about his financial woes but even that doesn't deter her from making snarky comments about the establishment. One could even venture to say Gloria may be channeling Anton, the harsh restaurant critic in Ratatouille. And who's betting that right about now Kevin is wishing he could control his mother like a marionette the way Remy controls Linguini in the film? That way, Gloria would be happily dishing out the cash her youngest so desires. Five stars to cooking up a scheme like that, right?
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Chelsea wears a black dress. As she shares Sharon's secret with Chloe, one can't help but wait for the game of telephone that will ensue given Mrs. Fisher's Guinness World Record title as the "World's Biggest Blabbermouth." Chelsea may as well have handed her a megaphone and told her to go for it. While Chloe may have her work cut out for her keeping that vault kept shut, Mrs. Newman better pray her friend doesn't spill the beans. If not, it's Chelsea's funeral. And look, she's even dressed for it too.
On this episode of TheYoungandthe Restless, Christine wears a lace t-shirt. As she cozies up to her best friend's ex-boyfriend right after breaking up the couple, one can't help but cringe. Sure, she plays the holier-than-thou card with Phyllis all day every day but in the end, Christine is still the girl who kissed her best friend's boyfriend and ended that relationship. Too bad Cricket doesn't follow fellow Jiminy Cricket's advice because in this case, her conscience is hardly her guide. Good to see at least she's working on her fashion sense.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Chloe wears a green dress. Remember the children's book by Plat and Munck called The Little Engine that Could? Too bad repeating the phrase "I think I can, I think I can" is not going to save the trainwreck that is Tag and Grab. Especially not when the conductor Adam has jumped off the train and the only one left is the engineer, Kevin. Chloe tries to do some damage control and cover her tracks but even she is no longer onboard. Kevin's one track mind is going to have to be retrained because although he has been derailed, he should be picking up steam in no time.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Nikki wears a black lace shirt. Now that the ridiculous kidnapping drama is behind them, no one can breathe a sigh of relief since Victoria was never really in any danger in the first place. Seriously, the whole ordeal went a little something like this: "'Don't have the money in time, Billy? No problem, here's the phone so you can comfort your wife.' 'Uncomfortable in a small dark closet, Victoria? Let's move you to a bigger room with better lighting.' 'Hungry? Here, have some of Miami's finest Cuban food.' 'Bored? Let's bond over how we don't have custody of our kids.'" For all purposes, Eddie G. may as well have been carrying a water gun. How did Victoria's kidnapper ever survive prison? Anyhow, now that Nikki has her daughter back, she can focus on planning her 500th wedding to Victor and redecorating the ranch. Oh, the life of a Newman.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Sharon wears a teal dress and a camel coat. As she comes out of hiding, paranoia sets in and she scrambles to get her life in order. With good reason too because if Nikki ever were to find out Sharon burnt down the ranch, it's going to be Gabriel Aubry vs. Oliver Martinez all over again. Who knows which of the two women will end up with the black eye or if restraining orders will follow suit but the best part of this comparison? Victor is Halle Berry. As for the coat, here is a similar one.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Esther wears a printed cardigan. Who else is hoping that one of these days, she will get her happily ever after? Esther should follow Jennifer Lopez' lead in Maid in Manhattan and start wearing Katherine's clothes and baubles in her down time. Who knows, she could even run into the man of her dreams while wearing one of Mrs. C's fur coats! Kay may want to start treating Esther a bit nicer though because barking orders and bossing her around may not make the resilient woman quit but it may result in Minnie's chocolate pie from The Help. On the bright side, at least she didn't have to wear that ridiculous maid's uniform on Thanksgiving.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Phyllis wears a plum top with a slash neckline. What does she have in common with Anne Boleyn? Phyllis, like the Queen of England, stole someone's husband, committed adultery, was involved in a very public divorce, and gave birth to a daughter. Anne Boleyn was eventually charged with treason and beheaded and while Red's still sits squarely above her shoulders, she did attempt to kill although Christine and Paul are hardly head of state. Phyllis may have never had to struggle to conceive a son for Nick but with the way he's headed, he'll surely have eight wives in no time.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Jill wears a black ensemble with red cuffs. As she argues with Katherine, one can't help but think their bickering is somewhat similar to that of Eliza Doolittle and Professor Higgins in My Fair Lady. "Wouldn't It Be Lovely" if the two women would put their differences aside and get along? "With a Bit of Luck" Chancellor Industries would possibly grow into an even more successful company with both matriarchs at the helm. Of course, Katherine then has to go and pull a fake heart attack stunt and Jill is like "Just You Wait." Sure, the "Rain in Spain" stays mainly in the plain but what about Australia? Katherine may never admit it but she definitely missed Jill when she was in the land Down Under. Why? Perhaps because she had grown "Accustomed to her Face."
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Nina wears a gray silk top. Anyone else think the love triangle between Nina, Paul, and Christine mirrors the one between Robin, Ted, and Barney on How I Met Your Mother? In both instances, a set of best friends shares the same significant other and escalated emotions, jealousy and lying are all intricately involved. What is more, both triangles seem to have deep historical roots as Paul and Christine were engaged to be married many moons ago and Ted's tale has been going on since the dawn of time. Luckily in Nina's case, we are hardly waiting at the edge of our seats (speaking of which, doesn't she look comfy?) for any big reveals like, you know, who her mother is. And I'm guessing there are no secret Canadian pop teen idols in our midst either.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Leslie wears a silk blouse. Now that she has accepted Neil's job offer, the chances of the two dating will only go in One Direction. Leslie dating her new boss is about as likely to happen as Taylor Swift dating a certain 18 year old for a couple of months then writing a handful of chart-topping songs about the breakup. What is the "One Thing" that has prevented this romance from blossoming sooner? "Nobody Knows." Perhaps it was the fact Neil was busy raising a son and living in perfect Harmony. Here's to hoping Mr. Winters and Leslie "Viva La Vida" together sooner rather than later.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Christine wears a tan blazer. The mere fact she's wearing a blazer is about as predictable as the overwhelmingly negative reviews for Lindsay Lohan's new film "Liz and Dick." Christine does, however, manage to surprise viewers by kissing her best friend's boyfriend and in a scene right out of any Lifetime movie, Nina walks in and catches them in the act. It's true, Christine and Paul are hardly Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton but it does seem the buzz surrounding them in Genoa City is reminiscent of the familiar chaos following the legendary Hollywood couple. And there you have it, "Boom!" The "Love Is Better Than Ever" feeling is gone as "Winter Kills" Paul and Nina's relationship. Or in this case, Christine does.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Chelsea wears a blue sweater. Not only is Sharon merely a shadow of her former self but these days she seems to be afraid of her own shadow. Without a shadow of a doubt Adam cares a great deal for his ex-wife but doesn't it seem that Chelsea is living in Sharon's shadow? Thomas Campbell said, "coming events cast their shadows before" and in this case, he may be right. Chelsea may want to consult Phyllis on this one because if anyone has experience living in Sharon's shadow, it is the fiery former redhead.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Sharon wears a camel and black draped cardigan sweater. Right now the question on everyone's mind is "Will Danielle Staub be returning to The Real Housewives of New Jersey next season?" Okay, fine in this context it's more like, "Will Faith accept poor Sharon's desperate attempts to get 'Real Close'?" (For the record, just quoted Danielle's song. I know.) While we'll just have to wait and see for the answers to both questions, feel free to keep asking where Sharon got her colorblock cardigan because if nothing else, at least that puzzle has been solved for you.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Nikki wears a red dress. Amidst rumors of a Boy Meets World spin-off in the works, one can't help but hope Cory and Topanga never let their daughter get kidnapped. That being said, the storyline would make for a great future episode of the 90s hit. Can you imagine Mr. Feeny lecturing his former students on the dangers of gambling? In the end, everyone would hug and have a good laugh over the unfortunate series events. Sigh. If only things were ever that easy for the Newman family.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Avery wears a draped front dress. Is anyone else wondering what she would have to say about Peter Wells' scathing New York Times review of Guy's American Kitchen and Bar? So far it seems Genoa City citizens cannot get enough of Avery's delicious baked goods and scrumptious soup. While no one is doubting her culinary expertise, one has to wonder whether "panic grips her soul" as she admits she wants to date her sister's soon-to-be ex-husband. Is Avery's guilt eating away at her like nuclear waste? Perhaps some Emily Dickinson poetry may help put her mind at ease. Then again, not if "A great Hope fell." Hey, it did for poor Guy Fieri, right?
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Summer wears a pink printed floral scarf. What if she didn't fake forgiveness and was sorry for her actions? What if Summer actually forgave Phyllis? Right now, those things are about as likely to happen as if somebody created a Tumblr called "What if Adele was Mrs. Doubtfire?" Oh wait, somebody not only made one but it seems to be a bona fide hit. Perhaps this bodes well for the people Summer is currently terrorizing; "Looks Like a Lady" may actually get around to apologizing and meaning it. Eventually. J.Crew Printed Wool Scarf
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Jill wears a teal blazer. As she chats with Neil about Chancellor Industries, one cannot help but feel she has on her McKayla Maroney "Not Impressed" face. Sure, Jill is attempting to look out for Katherine's best interest but right about now, if intervening was an Olympic sport, she would win the gold meddle. Perhaps she better help Mrs. C reconsider before she vaults into the decision and returns to her CEO position because all Jill seems to be doing lately is getting bent out of shape.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Sharon wears a beige cable knit sweater with elbow patches. There is no doubt she is missing Noah and Faith but as much as Twihards will be yearning for their Twilight fix once the last part of the franchise hits theatres? Sharon being away from her kids is a total Eclipse of her heart but hopefully some time soon there will be a New Moon. This way, she can start fresh with her loved ones who no doubt see her as lost and innocent as Bella Swan in the first film. Yes, Breaking Dawn will be good thing for everyone, whether it be a new beginning for Sharon or a satisfying conclusion for fans.
On this episode of The Young and the Restless, Lauren wears a white drape silk top. Given the recent Glamour Women of the Year Awards, it would seem only fitting to present Genoa City's very own leading ladies with their own titles. Best TV Personality? Clearly Abby. Entrepreneur would obviously go to Sharon (not) while Editor would go to Phyllis, and Comedy to Avery. However Genoa City's Woman of the Year award would have to go to Lauren. Besides her brush with the law given a certain hand-held weapon, she has managed to stay in a loving committed relationship with her husband, raise a nice young son (so far), and runs what seems to be the city's only clothing boutique all while wearing amazing clothes. Bravo to the glamorous Lauren.
